Privacy policy
Edwards Landscape & Construction is a North Bay contractor that collects personal information through this website for one purpose: to respond to project enquiries. The site sets no advertising cookies, runs no analytics or tracking pixels, and does not sell, rent or trade personal information to anyone. This policy explains exactly what is collected, where it goes, and how to have it removed.
What this site collects
There is one form on this website, the quote request form. When you submit it, the following is collected because you typed it:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address, if you choose to provide one. It is optional.
- Your town or neighbourhood, if provided
- The project type and timing you select
- Your project description, in whatever detail you choose to give
Alongside that, the following is recorded automatically when a form is submitted, to help route the enquiry and to filter automated spam:
- The page you submitted from, and the page that referred you to this site, if any
- The date and time of submission
- Your IP address and browser user agent, recorded by the server that receives the form
The form also contains a hidden field that human visitors never see and never fill in. If it comes back filled, the submission is treated as automated and is discarded rather than forwarded. The same happens if a form is completed impossibly quickly. Nothing from a discarded submission is stored or sent on.
What this site does not do
This is worth stating plainly, because most privacy policies bury it.
- No advertising or tracking cookies are set by this site.
- No analytics package runs on it. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Meta pixel, no session recording and no heatmapping.
- No account is created and there is nothing to log into.
- Personal information is never sold, rented or traded.
- No marketing list is built from browsing. You are contacted because you asked to be.
One small piece of browser storage is used. When a form is submitted successfully, your first name is held briefly in your browser's session storage so the confirmation page can greet you by name. It is deleted as soon as that page loads, it never leaves your device, and it is gone when you close the tab.
Where your enquiry goes
A form submission is sent from this website to a server function on the same domain, which forwards it to the customer relationship management system Edwards uses to manage enquiries. That system is operated by a third-party provider, HighLevel, and stores data on servers located in the United States. This means your information is transferred outside Canada and may be accessible to United States authorities under the laws of that country. If that concerns you, call or text (705) 358-1169 instead of using the form.
This website is hosted by Netlify, which like all web hosts keeps standard server logs including IP addresses. These are used for security and reliability, not for marketing.
Third-party content on these pages
Typefaces and images are served from this site's own domain, so ordinary browsing loads nothing from anyone else. Two features do involve a third party:
- A Google Maps embed, showing the business location. Your browser requests it from Google when the page loads, so Google will see your IP address. Edwards receives no data from it, and Google's handling of that request is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
- The quote form on the contact page, which is provided by Jobber, the job management software Edwards runs the business on. What you type into that form goes to Jobber and is stored there. Jobber also sets its own cookies in your browser to keep the form working and to block automated abuse. Its handling of that information is governed by Jobber's privacy policy.
Neither is used by Edwards to track you across the web.
How long information is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond, quote and, where work goes ahead, to service the warranty. The workmanship warranty runs three years from completion, so records connected to a completed project are generally kept for at least that long, and longer where tax or insurance rules require it. Enquiries that never become projects are removed on request.
Your rights
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you can ask to see the personal information held about you, ask for it to be corrected if it is wrong, withdraw consent, and ask for it to be deleted. Requests are handled by Kayden Edwards directly.
To make a request, call or text (705) 358-1169, or write to Edwards Landscape & Construction, 850 Lakeshore Drive, Unit 10, North Bay, Ontario P1A 2G8. There is no charge, and a response will normally follow within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with how a request has been handled, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If this site starts using analytics, advertising pixels or anything else that changes what is collected, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. There is no mailing list, so the way to check is to look at that date.
Questions about any of this go to the same place as everything else: the contact page, or (705) 358-1169.
